How to join Indian Air Force as an Airman

We would like to inform there are three types of trades:

Types of Trades

  • Group ‘X’: Technical & Non-Technical
  • Group ‘Y’: Technical & Non-Technical
  • Group ‘Z’: Non-Technical

Basic educational qualification: The basic educational qualification required for many of the branches are as follows: Marticulate, Marticulate and 10+2 (intermediate). We are providing a detailed info for all the trades below

Eligibility Criteria

GROUP X trades (Technical Trade)

  • Gender: Male
  • Martial Status: Single
  • Nationality: Indian
  • Age Limit: Candidate must lie in between 17-21 Years
  • Educational Qualification: 10+2 with PCM or a Diploma in Engineering from a recognised institute. (Prefer Chart given below for more details)

Group ‘X’ (Non-Technical Trade)

  • Gender: Male
  • Martial Status: Single
  • Nationality: Indian
  • Age Limit: Candidate must lie in between 20-25 Years
  • Educational Qualification: Graduation plus a B.Ed/Two years teaching experience (Prefer Chart given below for more details)

Group ‘Y’ (Technical Trade)

  • Gender: Male
  • Martial Status: Single
  • Nationality: Indian
  • Age Limit: Candidate must lie in between 17-21 Years
  • Educational Qualification: Passed Intermediate / 10+2 / equivalent examination in any stream / subject approved by Central / State Education Boards with minimum 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English

Group ‘Y’ (Non-Technical)

  • Gender: Male
  • Martial Status: Single
  • Nationality: Indian
  • Age Limit: Candidate must lie in between 17-21 Years
  • Educational Qualification: Passed 10+2 / Intermediate / equivalent exam with Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate and 50% marks in English

Group ‘Z’ (Non-Technical)

  • Gender: Male
  • Martial Status: Single
  • Nationality: Indian
  • Age Limit: Candidate must lie in between 17-21 Years
  • Educational Qualification: Passed Matriculation / 10th class or equivalent with minimum pass marks from any Government recognised School/Boards and proficient in playing at least one of the following musical instruments

SELECTION PROCEDURE

Now we will jump to next topic that is: Selection Procedure. To be an Airman in Indian Air Force you will across either through All India Selection Tests or Recruitment Rallies. Check their separate details
(a) All India Selection Tests (STs): The Recruitment Notification will be released in Employment News/Rozgar Samachar. Eligible candidates will sent their applications to address: President, Central Airmen Selection Board, Post Box No. 11807, New Delhi – 110 010.
(b) Recruitment Rallies: The Recruitment Notification will be released in popular local/regional newspapers circulated in the region/area of the rally. You have to carry your documents at the venue.
Selection will done on the basis of the following:
1) Written Test
2) Physical Fitness Test
3) Interview
4) Trade Allocation Test (Only for Group ‘X’ Technical)
5) Medical
