Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification:

  • Candidates must have completed Be/B.Tech degree in any discipline with Physics and Mathematics at 12th standard
  • For observer entry Minimum percentage required is 55% in BE/B.Tech
  • For Pilot entry minimum percentage required is 60% in BE/B.Tech

Age Limit:

a) For Pilot/Observer: General Candidates age limit is 19 to 24 years, born between 02 Jan 1993 and 01 Jan 1998; both dates inclusive

(ii) CPL Holders. 19 to 25 years, born between 02 Jan 1992 and 01 Jan 1998; both dates inclusive

(b) Age for NAIC – 19 ½ – 25

Selection Procedure:

Based on the performance of educational qualification, candidates will be call up for SSB. (For more details refer: official notification)


(i) For Pilot & Observer entry: Short Service Commission is granted for a term of 14 years. (No further extension will be given beyond 14 years)

(ii) For NAIC Short Service Commission is granted initially for 12 years extendable by 2 years. (No further extension will be given beyond 14 years)

Education Qualification

      • BE/B. Tech or Regular Post Graduate Degree in any field from a recognised university
      • Candidates with diploma in Sports Coaching from National Institute of Sports and Msc in Sports (Coaching) will be given priority during short listing for SSB.

Sports Qualifications

      • a) All sports other than Yachting and Wind Surfing. A candidate should have participated in Senior Level National Championships/Games in following disciplines: Athletics/Crosscountry/Triathlon/Tennis/Boxing/Squash/football/Hockey/Basketball/Volleyball /Handball/Cricket/ /Diving/Water Polo/Kabaddi
      • b) Yachting/Wind Surfing. A candidate must have at least one of the following qualifications:-
      1. Should have represented India at the Asian Games or ISAF Youth Sailing World Championships and secured a medal in Youth/Olympic Classes
      2. Should have participated in a Senior National Championship conducted by YAI and secured a minimum of 5th position in Olympic classes.
      3. Should have attained a position amongst the top 50% of the fleet in a class of boat/windsurf completed at the ISAF Youth Sailing World Championship

Physical Standard

      • Height & weight: Minimum height-157 cm, with correlated weight.
      • Eye sight: The minimum acceptable vision standards for distant vision 6/12, 6/12 correctable to 6/6, 6/6 with glasses. Candidates should not be colour/ night blind.

(vi) MA (History/ Pol Science/Economics) OR BE/B Tech/M Tech in any of the following disciplines:- Mech /Electrical /Computer Science /Technology

with 60% for B.Tech 50% for Post Graduate

2) For Logistics Cadre

(i) B.E/B. Tech in any discipline or

(ii) MBA or

(iii) B.Sc /B.Com/B.Sc(IT) with first class and a PG Diploma in Finance/Logistics/Supply Chain Management/Material Management or

ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA for Indian Navy recruitment 2016

Educational Qualification required

      • Candidate must have passed (10+2 Pattern) from University/Board or its equivalent
      • At least 70% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics (PCM)
      • At least 50% marks in English (either in Class X or Class XII)

Age Limit 

      • Candidate must lie between 17 to 19½ years
      • Both dates are inclusive 02 Jan 1997 & 01 Jul 1999

Selection Procedure

Candidate have to pass through SSB interview which is divided into two stages:

      • Intelligence Test
      • Physiological Test

Physical Standards

Let’s check out Height/Weight standard and Vision standard

(a) Height and Weight standard:

Minimum height – 157 cms with correlated weight as per age.

(b) Eye Sight standard

The minimum acceptable vision standards for distant vision is 6/6, 6/9 correctable to
6/6, 6/6 with glasses. Should not be colour/night blind.

You should also know about Tattoo
(c) Tattoo. Permanent body tattoos on any part of the body are permitted to candidates belonging to tribal communities/from tribal areas as declared by the Government of India. For other candidates permanent body tattoos are only permitted on inner face or forearms i.e. from inside of elbow to wrist end on the reverse side of palm/back (dorsal) side of hand.
Note: – There will be no relaxation in Physical Standards
