NDA Exam Pattern

Students who are thoroughly scrutinizing for NDA exam pattern. They can find its brief details in this post. UPSC schedules NDA exam twice a year in April and September. It is seemingly true that most of the male candidates after 12th appear in NDA exam. Let me inform presently female candidates are not permitted to give NDA exam. We hope they will be allowed soon 🙂 Apart from this we are displaying NDA written exam pattern below, so have a look!!

NDA consist of two subjects:

Written Examination

Paper Subject Duration Maximum Marks
I Mathematics 2.5 hours 300
II General Ability Test 2.5 hours 600
Total 900

The General Ability Test consists of

Part Subject Maximum Marks
Part A English 200
Part B General Knowledge 400
Total 600

General Knowledge will be divided into 6 sections:

  • Section for Physics: 100 marks
  • Section for Chemistry: 60 marks
  • Section for General Science: 40 marks
  • Section for Social Studies: 80 marks
  • Section for Geography: 80 marks
  • Section for Current Events: 40 marks

Marks obtained for each correct answer

Important instructions:

  • Question Papers of Paper I – Mathematics and Part B of Paper II will be set in English and Hindi.
  • The papers in all the subjects consist of Objective (multiple choice answer) Type questions only.
  • SI units will be used in the papers and Candidates should use only International form of Indian numerals (i.e. 1,2,3,4,5,6 etc.) while answering question papers.
